Gaywood Community Primary School, King's Lynn. Sept/Oct 2009
Hand painted pebbles and Mosaic.
The theme was 'Fruit & vegetables' inspired by the schools vegetable garden. As an 'artists in residence' I ran workshops for 7 days with 75 children a day painting 2 pebbles each, a total of 420 children worked on this. The pebbles were then varnished and we designed the layout, grouping them in to patches:- strawberries, oranges, pineapples, carrots etc. I then worked on site for a further 5 days with the children in groups, we stuck the pebbles to concrete adhesive, made mosaic, then grouted and cleaned.. making a 14 stone..fruit and vegetable patch Pebble Mosaic!

Gaywood Community Primary School, King's Lynn. 2007
Hand painted tiles and mosaic panel.
This was a fantastic big project. We completed four enormous boards (2mx1m) which were joined together and formed on a wall in an outside area of the school. The panel was also grouted and made weatherproof.
I worked with the 420 children for 12 days as 'artist in residence', the process involved:- Painting tiles set up as workshops the theme was the schools wildlife garden. Firing tiles, sorting, designing the layout, gluing, mosaicing and finally grouting and installing.
