About Mosaic Memories

At Mosaic Memories, we believe in the transformative power of art to tell stories, inspire connection, and celebrate creativity and well-being. From bespoke mosaics and wearable art to large-scale public installations, we create vibrant, lasting pieces that bring beauty and meaning to spaces and lives.

Our work is rooted in collaboration, whether it’s crafting a personal keepsake from treasured objects, leading community projects that unite hundreds of individuals, inspiring young minds through art in schools, or nurturing carers and those with disabilities to create meaningful artistic experiences.

We’re passionate about making creativity accessible to everyone, offering workshops in our charming Green Room Studio in West Acre, Norfolk, or at venues of your choice.

Mosaic Memories is more than a business—it’s a creative journey where broken things are reimagined, where memories are woven into art, and where creativity becomes a shared experience.

About Carolyn Ash

Founder of Mosaic Memories

Hi, I’m Carolyn Ash, the artist and community facilitator behind Mosaic Memories. For me, art has always been about connection—connecting with nature, with people, and with the stories that make life meaningful. My journey as an artist has been shaped by a lifelong love of creativity, a fascination with patterns in nature and design, and a deep belief in the power of art to bring people together.

Trained in Textiles and Design at Great Yarmouth Art College and West Sussex College of Design in the 1980s, I’ve spent decades honing my craft and exploring different mediums. From designing screen-printed giftware for iconic shops like Liberty in London to creating one-of-a-kind mosaic pieces in my Norfolk studio, my work has always been driven by a desire to make beauty out of the ordinary—and oftentimes the broken.

Mosaic became my passion over 20 years ago, and it's since become, along with painting, the heart of my practice. I love the way mosaic allows the reimagining and repurposing of broken objects—whether it’s a cherished plate, a piece of jewellery, or a fragment of mirror—into something new and meaningful. Each piece I create tells a story, weaving together memories, emotions, and a little bit of magic.

Beyond my studio, I’m deeply committed to sharing the joy of creativity with others. Whether through workshops, collaborative public art projects, or community initiatives, I believe art has the power to inspire, heal, and unite. Some of my proudest moments include leading the creation of the Commemorative Mosaic Pyramid in Swaffham, involving over 320 individuals, and working with Scarning Primary School to transform their exterior wall into a vibrant celebration of local wildlife.

As a mother of two (now grown-up) children, I’ve learned to balance my artistic passion with the ebb and flow of life. My family has been my greatest inspiration, helping me see the world with fresh eyes and reminding me of the importance of connection and community.

At Mosaic Memories, I pour my heart into every project, whether it’s a bespoke mosaic panel, a piece of wearable art, or a large-scale installation. I take pride in creating and helping create work that is not only beautiful but also deeply personal, often incorporating treasured objects. Each piece is a collaboration, a celebration of individuality, and a testament to the power of creativity.

When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me exploring the Norfolk countryside, gathering inspiration from the natural world, or connecting with fellow artists and makers at local fairs and festivals. I’m always excited to take on new challenges, whether it’s a private commission, a community project, or a creative workshop.

Thank you for visiting Mosaic Memories. I hope my work brings a little joy and beauty into your life.
